Living Lab
SOVEREIGN MODERN COMMUNITIES
CREATING TRUE SYSTEMIC CHANGE IN UGANDA
Over the next decade, poverty, environmental degradation, food insecurity, inequality, and climate change are expected to be the most notable challenges faced by communities in Uganda. To tackle these challenges, a living lab provides a collaborative platform for researchers, businesses, and community members to work together towards finding solutions for a diverse range of social issues.
MOST ATTEMPTS FAIL.
Most attempts at systems change fail. True systems change requires new approaches and mindsets and complex systematic solutions. With the Living Lab solution, we seek to satisfy essential areas.
The "Living Lab" pilot will be tailored to the capabilities of the infrastructure, climate, soil fertility, and agricultural potential of each area it is conducted in. Certain parts of the campus will include research plots, an education hub, a practice area, and an incubator to cover the whole system.
The campus will also feature models of sustainable farming, a technology center, and a management and coordination center. We envision it to stand as a model of regeneration for the region – providing inspiration and hope that a better future is possible.
LIVING LAB LAUNCH
The first Living Labs will be located in the Ugandan regions of Karamoja, Fort Portal, Kampala and Jinja.
From here, we can replicate the concept across other regions within Uganda and across Africa.
